Lacking Barakah in Your Life? Here Are 6 Ways to Achieve It

Have you ever wondered why some people’s lives seem to overflow with blessings, tranquillity, and success, while others struggle even when surrounded by wealth and hard work? The secret lies in Barakah — the divine blessings that imbue what we have with unmatched abundance and fulfilment.

In this post, we will explore practical, powerful ways to attract Barakah into your life through the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah. Prepare to discover how you can transform your life from ordinary to extraordinary.

1. Attach Yourself to the Qur’an

One of the most essential sources of Barakah is connecting deeply with the Qur’an. The Qur’an is described by Allah ﷻ as “Mubarak” (blessed), meaning it holds within it an inherent divine blessing that extends to those who engage with it.

  • Allah ﷻ says:
“This is a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, so that they may contemplate its verses, and people of reason may be mindful.” (Surah Sad: 29)

Make the Qur’an a central part of your life. Recite it regularly, reflect on its meanings, and let its teachings guide your actions.

When you start your day with the Qur’an, it infuses your day with Barakah, touching everything from your work to your personal interactions. This consistent relationship with the Qur’an opens a gateway to blessings you may never have imagined.

Give it a try. Dedicate the early part of your day to abundant recitation of the Qur’an, and notice the transformation—enhanced productivity, a sense of Barakah, and a more fulfilling day. Make this a daily practice, and open the door to blessings beyond your expectations.

2. Practice Honesty and Transparency in Trade

In our pursuit of wealth, it’s easy to overlook the simple yet profound impact of honesty.

  • The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasised that Barakah is intricately linked to honesty in business and financial dealings:
البَيّعَانِ بِالخِيَارِ مَا لَمْ يَتَفَرَّقَا. فَإِنْ صَدَقَا وَبَيَّنَا بُوْرِكَ لَهُمَا فِي بِيْعِهِمَا. وَإِنْ كَذَبَا وَكَتَمَا مُحِقَتْ بَرَكَةُ بِيْعِهِمَا
“The buyer and the seller have the option of cancelling or confirming the bargain unless they separate. If they speak the truth and clarify the defects, they will be blessed in their bargain. If they lie and conceal, the blessings of the sale will be wiped out.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 2110)

Honesty may sometimes seem difficult, especially in financial matters, but the rewards are immeasurable. Wealth earned with integrity and spent with sincerity is blessed by Allah ﷻ, stretching far beyond its material value. It nourishes not only the body but also the soul, bringing peace and contentment to your life.

By committing to honesty in your transactions, you open the door to divine blessings and experience the true Barakah that comes from earning and spending in a manner pleasing to Allah.

3. Strengthen Family Ties

Maintaining good relations with family and relatives is a cornerstone of Barakah.

  • The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever desires an expansion in his sustenance and age should maintain good relations with his family.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 2067)

What more could we desire as humans than abundant provision and long, fulfilling lives?

Simple acts like checking in on your relatives, offering help when needed, and fostering unity and warmth within your family bring immense Barakah into your home. These are not merely good deeds—they are transformative actions that lead to increased provision, enhanced well-being, and lasting goodness in your life.

4. Give Generously to Charity

One of the most beautiful ways to attract Barakah is through giving. Sadaqah, or charity, is an act that multiplies blessings exponentially.

  • Allah ﷻ states:
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah is that of a grain that sprouts into seven ears, each bearing one hundred grains. Allah multiplies the reward even more to whomever He wills. For Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing.” (Surah Al-Baqarah: 261)

Giving charity with sincerity brings a ripple of blessings that touches every part of your life. It’s not just your wealth that grows—it’s the sense of fulfilment, contentment, and Allah’s favour that makes life more meaningful.

Whether you’re helping someone in need, supporting a cause, or offering your time, every act of giving invites Barakah, bringing benefits that often unfold in ways you may not immediately see.

5. Share Meals and Invoke Allah’s Name

An often-overlooked cause of Barakah is sharing meals and invoking Allah’s name over your food.

  • The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Eat your meals together and mention the name of Allah over it, for you will be blessed in it.” (Sunan Abi Dawud 3764)

This simple practice goes beyond just nourishment—it fosters unity, gratitude, and mindfulness. When families or friends gather to share food and remember Allah, the meal itself becomes a source of Barakah, offering not only physical sustenance but also spiritual blessings that strengthen bonds and elevate the experience.

So, the next time breakfast, lunch or dinner is served, gather your family, invoke Allah’s name, and share the blessing of eating together.

6. Seize the Early Morning Hours

There is immense Barakah in the early hours of the day.

  • The Prophet ﷺ said:
“O Allah, bless my nation in their early mornings.” (Sunan Ibn Majah 2236)

Waking up early is more than just a routine—it’s a way to unlock the blessings of your day. The stillness of the morning offers an unmatched opportunity for focus, productivity, and deep spiritual connection.

Conclusion

Barakah is the divine gift that transforms ordinary actions into extraordinary blessings. By connecting with the Qur’an, practising honesty, strengthening family bonds, giving in charity, sharing meals, and embracing the early hours of the day, you can invite Barakah into every aspect of your life.
